Ingredients
  1. 3 (12-Ounce) Harvest Apples
  2. 1 Cup Wallnuts Chopped
  3. 1/4 Teaspoon Apple Pie Spice
  4. 1 1/4 Cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
  5. 1/4 Cup Walnuts Finely Ground
  6. 3 Tablespoons Light Brown Sugar
  7. 1/4 Cup (1/2 Stick) Butter or Margarine Melted
  8. 3 Large Egg Whites
  9. 1/4 Teaspoon Cream of Tarter
  10. 1/4 Cup Sugar Granulated
Method
  1. Thaw escalloped apples in microwave at MEDIUM (50% power) 6 to 7 minutes. Stir together apples, toasted walnuts, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, and apple pie spice. Set aside.
  2. Stir together graham cracker crumbs and next 3 ingredients until blended. Press mixture firmly into an 11-inch tart pan or a 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Bake at 350F for 8 to 10 minutes. Set tart crust aside.
  4. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar at high speed with an electric mixer until foamy. Add granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form and sugar dissolves (2 to 4 minutes).
  5. Spoon apple mixture evenly over crust; spread with meringue, sealing to edge of crust.
  6. Bake at 350F for 20 minutes.
